Track’s Jylan Thomas named Athlete of the Week (April 1, 2021)

Our Athlete of the Week this week is Jylan Thomas. Jylan is a Junior at Allatoona High School and has been running track for three years. “Jylan is a hard worker, always stepping up and leading warm-ups and pushing hard every day to get better,” said Head Track Coach Patrick Parsons. “I was picked for Athlete of the Week because of my hard work and determination, being able to put 100 and more on the track and being a young leader for our amazing team with our amazing coaches,” says Jylan. His favorite memory while running track at Allatoona was “being able to run my first meet this year after my ACL and meniscus injury. It was shocking to see the times I had gotten and to know it’s only gonna get better.” Jylan’s plans after high school are to “go to college and play football, track or both and get my majors in health science and business and marketing.” His advice to younger athletes is “to stay focused, work hard and put your all to whatever you enjoy doing and prove everybody wrong” but “most importantly remain humble through the high and low points of whatever you do.”
