The Athlete of the Week is Cecilia Hensel. Coach Patrick Parsons had this to say, “Ceci has been our number one girl in both races this season. She PRd by 30 seconds in her first 5K of this year.” As she enters her senior year, this looks like an amazing start to a season. She has been running for about five years now since she started in 7th grade. One of her favorite moments of Cross Country was going to the State Championship. State is extremely difficult for all sports, so it shows how good she is and how dedicated Cecilia is to Cross Country. Her plans after high school are incredible. She is wanting to pursue Nursing at the University of Alabama and planning on still running after she graduates from high school. She has grown from 7th grade and has been working hard since then. She wants to get better every day. She knows it is hard, and this is why she wants future athletes to know, “Stick with it when it is hard, work even harder, and just have fun.” With your challenging work and dedication, Cecilia, congratulations on Athlete of the Week!
