He has been awarded New Teacher of the Year (South Paulding High School), was Summa Cum Laude at both Kennesaw State and Campbell, and was awarded both a Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) from the United States Navy/United States Marine Corps and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal (ACM) (two times).

He looks up to both Troy Pirkle and David Cintron as mentors, and he finds inspiration from fictional character Ted Lasso who said, “Taking on a challenge is a lot like riding a horse, isn’t it? If you’re comfortable while you’re doing it, you’re probably doing it wrong.”
