Behind the Scenes of Bucs Volleyball

Written by Martha Perez – Journalism Staff Reporter

One of Allatoona’s most successful sports has come in hot for their new season. The girls Volleyball team began their season strong August 8Th winning both their matches against Lassiter and North Cobb Christian. From summer training to after school practices, these girls work hard on making sure each game is played to the best of their ability. As they are dedicated players, many of them play year-round. Over the summer, players worked based on their different strengths and weaknesses to improve. They begin practice by doing warm up drills to work on ball control, then they spend most of the time working on what was struggled most at in the previous game. Practice concludes by putting it all together and playing.

Head Coach Soley describes the team as “Fierce”. He also says, “As a player they each have their own responsibility within their position, and when everyone does that job, it molds really well together.” By continuing to work through each win and loss, the team ensures for growth and development. Senior and captain Addison McLarty says, “This team is a very close and tight group of girls, we spend so much time together we’re each other’s second family. When we’re off the court, we’re all just hanging out enjoying each other, and on the court, we hold each other accountable and push our teammates to be the player we know they can be.” As Addison enters her senior year, she is coming into her 4th year on varsity and nearing 1000 career kills. As their season continues, an influential role in games are the fans. Continue to support our Lady Bucs by coming out to games and cheering them on. As Coach Soley says, “You’re missing out if you don’t come out to see what we’re all about.”
