Michaela Hicks has a Bachelors in History Education from Kennesaw State University, a Masters in Secondary History Education, a Specialist in Curriculum and Instruction from Piedmont University, and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Education from Piedmont University in Curriculum and Instruction with an anticipated graduation date of Spring 2022. In high school, Coach Hicks competed in tennis and track and field. In college, she competed in tennis. She has been teaching and coaching for seven years. She has coached the Region 5-AAAAAA Girls Tennis Champion in 2018 and 2019, the Region 5-AAAAAA Girls Tennis Runner-Up in 2017, and the Region 5-AAAAAA Girls Tennis State Qualifier in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. She won the USTA Sportsmanship Award in 2019, and was nominated for the Positive Coach of the Year Award in 2021.

Coach Hicks is married to Alex, and they have three furry children, Molly, Maggie, and Pickles. She is also close to her mother. She considers Dedreial Jackson and her mother to be her mentors. Jackson taught her everything she knows about leadership, confronting what she values and commanding respect through effective communication! Hicks said that her mom has shown her how to trust Jesus and hold her head high in times of adversity. Coach Hicks takes inspiration from this quotation: “It is only in the Lord that I lack no good thing (Psalm 34:10).”
