Dance Your Way to Victory

Here at Allatoona High, we are so proud of our sports teams, and on February 12th, our very own Hotshotz Dance Team competed in Columbus, Georgia, to achieve the high score in the 5-6A High Kick GHSA Dance Competition. The Hotshotz started their camp in July and worked on dance routines to perform at football games and basketball games. However, as the season progressed, they started to learn their difficult high kick and hip-hop competition routines. Head Coach Kelly Mattingly says, “These girls work hard for two seasons, trying to perfect their movements and increase their stamina. I am so proud of how this group of girls worked hard all year and finished it off as champions. It feels great to see these girls achieving their goal.” Hotshotz member Jordan Lavigne says, “Winning the state championship meant that all our hard work and extra practices paid off. It was such an amazing feeling, and we were all so surprised. Being on the Hotshotz means the world to me and getting to lead all my team members is such an honor.” Team member Lia Eltzeroth also said, “Hotshotz has helped me with my confidence and has given me an outlet to make meaningful friendships while doing something I love.” Congratulations on such a memorable and big success, Hotshotz! If anyone is interested in auditioning for the team, tryouts will be held on April 12th, 13th, and 14th.
