Growing up in the California and watching his father Jim Phillips Coach High School Baseball and Football, Coach Chad Phillips always aspired of become a successful high school coach. After playing for Greg Hayes at Canyon High School, he knew that the sport he wanted to coach was Basketball. Coach Phillips basketball coaching career begin in the Summer on 1995, when he was asked by Head Coach Greg Hayes to be his Head Freshmen Coach. At that point, his aspiration to be a Head Boys’ Basketball grew tremendously. After spending two years coaching under Greg Hayes and Dave Humphreys, Coach Phillips ventured off to Sonoma State to finish his BA Degree. 1999, Coach Phillips was back on the sideline coaching and teaching at Canyon.

In 2000, at the age of 23, Coach Phillips became the Head Varsity Basketball Coach at his Alma-Mater Canyon High School. Coach Phillips served as the Head Boys Varsity Basketball Coach at Canyon for 12 years (2000-2012). While holding the reigns at Canyon, the Cowboys were able to compile 200 wins, three Foothill League Championships, four 20-win seasons and twelve consecutive playoff appearances.

In 2014 Coach Phillips took the Varsity basketball job at Valencia High School. In his inaugural season (14-15), the Vikings won a school record 22 games and won the Foothill League Title. The 2015-16 season was also a memorable one. Although, the Vikings overall record was only 12-18, they made a remarkable run the CIF DIV playoffs by beating Defending CIF Champions Village Christian and Sonora, before losing to St. John Bosco in the Elite Eight. In 2016-17, the Vikings regained their crown and garnered another Foothill League championship beating Hart on the last game of the season.

After relocating to Georgia in 2017, Coach Phillips was given the opportunity to lead the Allatoona Buc Basketball Program in 2018. During his 1st three years, the Bucs have accumulated 66 wins, a sweet 16 state birth and a Region Championship runner up. As the upcoming season approaches, Coach Phillips assures Buc’s Basketball Nation that he will tirelessly work to bring academic and athletic prominence to Allatoona High School.

Coach Phillips prides himself as a wonderful husband to his wife Jen and a nurturing father to five amazing young boys, Cayden (17), Camden (16), Kellen (15), Kolin (13), and Kasten (8).
