Head Coach, Swim and Dive
Coach Dorrough has a B.S. in Social Science Education, a M.Ed. in Teaching and Learning with Technology, an Ed.S. in Curriculum and Instruction, and an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction. While completing her B.S., she was on the President’s and Dean’s Lists every semester before graduating Summa Cum Laude. She has been teaching for twelve years and coaching for six years. In high school, Coach Dorrough competed in swimming and basketball.
Coach Dorrough is married to Shane Dorrough, and they have two furry children, Hudson and Roxie. She looks up to Nick Saban, a coach that “really has it all together!”
Assistant Coach, Swim and Dive
Coach Welch has a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Kennesaw State University and a M.Ed. in Professional Counseling from the University of West Georgia. Coach Welch taught for two years, has been a counselor for two years, and has coached Summer League Swimming for three years, Year-Round Swimming for two years, and has been a Summer League Official for two years. In high school, she swam competitively, then she continued to participate in club swimming in college.
As mentors, Coach Welch looks up to her parents who taught her to pursue her passions and to strive for excellence, Dave Streib, one of her high school coaches who challenged her but at the same time made swimming so much fun, and Andy Baer, an awesome leader who taught her how amazing coaching could be.
Coach Welch is married to Chris Welch, and they are expecting their first child in August 2017.
Coach Welch finds inspiration from Ralph Waldo Emerson, who said, “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”
