During Scott Bursmith’s seven year tenure as the Buccaneer principal, Allatoona rose to the ranks as one of the top schools not only in Cobb County, but also in the state of Georgia. Bursmith created a vision for Allatoona to be anchored in excellence, and strove each day to build a community school that Allatoona students were proud to call home.
To honor his legacy, on Friday, September 22, 2017, Allatoona established the Scott Bursmith Impact Award.
This award will be given annually to the alumni, student, staff or community member who is to be honored and recognized for their outstanding contributions to the overall success of the students at Allatoona High School. Award winners will be selected by committee based upon the criteria of honor, leadership, citizenship, and relationship, all things that Mr. Bursmith strove to establish during his time at Allatoona. Each year award winners will be recognized during a home football game and their names will henceforth be added to a permanent plaque that will hang in the entrance of Allatoona High School.
